Howdy, well that is what Texan’s say…right? Anyway, as an introduction my name is Chris Greathouse and my twin brother and business partner is Steve. We are born and raised in the Gulf coast area of Texas. After high school we had both earned our ASE Master auto technician certificates and worked as mechanics for several years. We learned many useful skills as mechanics, aside from the benefit of being to keep our own vehicles running, we learned how to manage our time and do things right the first time. We were paid on commission and doing things over was just not an option for the two of us.
After 13 years of automotive work we found ourselves needing to open our own shop but the start up cost was just out of our financial reach.
What to do? The only other skill we both had, we acquired in junior high and high school extensive wood shop training. Just so happened a friend of ours from our school days had a successful remodeling business in Austin and asking if we knew anyone in the Houston area who may want to copy his business model. Well it was a light bulb moment as our last name being Greathouse, we thought it surely was a sign of some sorts. So a home equity loan on our home, 2 months of training in Austin and San Antonio, and wallah, we were now in the remodeling business.
We named our first business name Greathouse Remodeling, we had a good start here but found our niche was really the kitchen cabinet refacing area. So we regrouped and became Kitchen Connection and for the past 15 years we have built our business and reputation with this name. Now we are changing our name to Cabinet Refacing Twins due to so many other companies in the area having company names so similar we decided to completely change to a name that sets us apart from other area companies.
We absolutely love what we do, it is just like on TV when the homeowners see their finished kitchen there are hugs and the happiness abounds. We do it right because we were taught “that is just what you do”
